Arne Slot admitted that it was understandable for concerns to be raised about his position after a further heavy loss against the Dutch champions.
The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in 12 matches, representing the team's worst streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.
They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at their home ground.
“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received significant support from the top,” the coach remarked.
“It's important to change things and secure a win naturally but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”
He continued, “I accept my position. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”
When asked to expand on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach explained:
“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”
He added, “Through standard conversations we have I feel the trust. But I've not talked to them since this match yet so we'll see.”
Slot lamented recurring failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.
Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the team's situation.
“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.
“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the words.”
He added, “It's tough because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”
“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a spell of this nature with performances this poor.”
Jones finished, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is removed, we will always battle.”
“We will attempt to bring this squad return to the top, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the best team in the world.”
“At this moment, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
