News has broken that fan-favorite stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.

A Major Reunion for Fans

The duo are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. Industry whispers indicate their roles will take the form of a future-set scene, as the main film series concluded with their characters settled into family life.

This marks the sixth installment in the global Hunger Games franchise.

The Source Material

Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a 2025 novel by series creator Suzanne Collins. It will be the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who was behind most of the previous films in the series.

The film's story are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, destined to become Katniss's mentor, is featured as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.
